JSU won their final regular season game against Tennessee Tech 2-1.
The Gamecocks will now be headed to the OVC tournament. This is the first trip to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament since 2005.
JSU scored quickly in this game in less than 10 minutes with both of their goals scored in the first half. Nicola Dominkovich scored the first goal with assists from Lindsey Jackson and Jackie Rush. In the 27th minute, Kelsey bright added the second goal of the game for JSU. Dominikovich was there this time for the assists. The goal was Bright’s 10th goal of the season. She joins Courtney Hurt with double-digit goals on the year. Bright had four of Jacksonville State’s nine shots on the day. The lone goal for Tennessee Tech was scored late in the 79th minute.
JSU was out-shot in the game as the Golden eagles had 10 shots to JSU’s nine. Freshman Caroline Robinson and sophomore Katie Thomas split goal-keeping duties. Robinson opened up and was goalie for the first half and had two saves. Thomas came in the second half to finish the game and had three saves.
This win was the Gamecock’s 10th win of the season and their sixth in conference play. So, the Gamecocks finished the regular season with an overall 10-9 record and 6-4 conference record.
For the seniors, this was the last regular season game they would play in their JSU career. The seniors on the team are Brianna Salverda, Kaitlyn Gregory, Jackie Rush, Lindsey Jackson, and Jessica Monahan.
For the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, the fifth seeded Gamecocks will face UT Martin Thursday, Nov. 6.
