Jacksonville State (17-12, 6-6 OVC) fell 1-10 to Alabama State (20-11) in Montgomery on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks’ Paul Angel scored their lone run, which came in the second inning, when Gavin Golsan singled through the gap on the left field side.
Ryan Sebra lost the decision to the Hornets’ Tyler Howe. Sebra gave up five runs on three hits and two walks in two innings of play. Jesse Fry, Michael Barber and Dalton Etheridge also pitched in Tuesday’s contest.
Jacksonville State will face the Hornets again on April 15, where this time the Hornets will travel to Rudy Abbott Field.
The Gamecocks will travel to Birmingham on Wednesday to face the UAB Blazers (18-12), before returning to Jacksonville to take on OVC rival Tennessee Tech (13-18, 6-9 OVC).
